1 What are you trying to achieve? on Mon Jan 11, 2010 9:50 am

I am absolutely no good at defining shades, but for me I am trying to achieve a lighter complexion that may be 3 or 4 shades lighter than I am at the moment. I know that this is possible as I have attained this and more with the old herbalinn, F & F at the very beginning, makari, again at the beginning of usage and more recently with dermabright.

I also wish to keep my skin looking glowing and youthful, which I think I will achieve with Retin A and my vitamin C serum. Fortunately I do not have a problem with spots so would just like things to remain that way.
What are you trying to achieve ?

Maharani what is your original shade and how many shades have you been able to lighten already?

For me, I would like to reach around Beyonce's complexion. My original shade is around Angela Basset's and Toni Braxton's shade, so far I'm about 3.5 shades lighter w/ the hq 4% and ra 0.05%, likas soap. But this is my guessing estimate. I'm hoping to reach this before Spring for some of the areas on my body and face, and then continue from there. Other than that I had success from Makarai night creme in the past. I tried other stuff, but not successfully.

I can't even say who I can compare my shade to. I have skin that looks lighter or darker depending on the time of day, the lighting, what mirror I look into etc. I know it sounds strange but sometimes I think I look lighter and then I can go and look in another mirror and I look darker. Weird, I know. I know that different lighting can obviously distort what I see, but I am talking about a real distinction. It's quite hard to explain.

So At the moment the only thing that I am guaging any results with, is by placing my hands by my face and comparing the difference.

yeah, I use the hands to face method too to help me judge my lightening. And my lips would look darker too. Sometimes when I look in the mirror I would think I am getting really pale, but I could check back later that evening and see nothing? I'm unsure if it is just me looking too hard in the mirror for flaws or the lightening doesnt last long...lol

I have to laugh.... I think that too...What happened to my lightening from this morning?!!!

I guess that another good guage is when others notice. However that in itself has it's drawbacks....People asking, are you bleaching?

I used to work with a Jamaican born girl, who I still consider a friend....though sometimes I wonder why. Anyway a few years back, she decided to ask me in front of several work colleagues that exact question. Fortunately she said it in her home accent and some of my colleagues who are white did not understand what she was talking about, but I could not believe it. Of course I denied it, but I guess what ever I was using at the time was surely working!!!

lol...good thingmany people weren't able to pick up what she was saying then. Yeah, some of my fam does that to me around others. Especially, one of my aunts and she would say every single time she sees me would say "you need to stop whatever your putting on your face, it's changing your color!" ...and she is really loud so everyone turns around and look. some of my female cousins do the same thing, even role their eyes when I say "It's only black soap" or facial peel. It has me really considering moving away again..oh well.

I have never really had a real problem with my family, apart from my Mum who has said before that I look like I need some sun....It has always been friends or people at work. I work with members of the public and I know that people have talked about me behind my back and it has gotten back to me. I don't kow why, but people always seem so interested in my business.

yeah, I sometimes sense that some women are talking behind my back. But what they say hasnt came back to me yet. But I can sense it from some of them too by the way they would look at me or even roll their eyes. I'm not in their business and what I choose to do shouldn't be of their concern. Unfortunately, there are a lot of nosy people out their.

Arebama, you already look quite light, so I am sure that your goal is very achievable. Looking forward to your updates with the HQ/RA regime.

That is obtainable in one years time as long as you find the regiment that works best for your skin, use sun block religiously, and remain persisitent. Espeically if you add a good source of vitamin C and maybe even NAC supplements if you want with vitamin E can alos help assit you in reaching your goals.

I would like to reach Sade's, Alicia Keys', or Beyonce's shade from head to toe. And a safe and not to complicated regimen to maintain a few times a week only.
