Fair & White Exclusive Whitenizer Gel Creme Review

Fair & White Exclusive Whitenizer Gel Crème for my face. I had bought it from Amazon for around $14 (I'm including the shipping & handling). The dark blue 1oz (30ml) tube and gold box packaging, I assumed would probably last maybe 3 weeks, especially since I naturally use more amount of product, but it was able to last me for 5 weeks.

On their site they state to use for 6-8 weeks to see much of a difference before giving up on it. It's texture is more like a opaque serum, rather than a crème or gel. Their active ingredient is hydroquinone, so if Hq is not your ingredient to use, this product may not be for you.... (continued)

*Update 4/21/2010: if you decide to try this gel, please keep in mind that this was recently tested to contain 8% hydroquinone. I personally prefer 3% or 4% Hq, as a lower concentration can lighten quite well when used along with a good exfoliant. I'm hoping that F&W will lower this concentration by half [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I say if you are concerned about using vitamin C on your skin in the day then just save it for use in the evening or when you know you will be not out in the sun. Have you tried hq and RA. I know that this seems to be the popular choice but if you are avoiding hq products then this seems to be popular too at the moment

Omega 3 and fish oils are supposed to be good for the skin too

Thanks for the input. I have reluctantly started with a low strength of lactic acid peel I also just bought the Vit C serum. The problem with my case is that my skin is very oily and highly tannable and already dark. I did a peel a week ago and I still see 2 acne (big ones which will leave brown spots) in the face. I think dandruff is now partially causing this due to clogged pores. I wash my hair with medicated shampoo but I can see flakes and then more pimples. this is new additional problem now leading to more acne and scars. I will let you guys know how it goes. I am avoiding HQ and RA. I will probably make me even more vulnerable to sunburn. Can it be used on the face for overall skin lightening? In other words does HQ have an effect on normal skin in lightening it?

Hq and retin A certainly make your skin more vulnerable to the sun so unless you make a commitment to avoid the sun you may be fighting a loosing battle. The same can be said for lactic acid and other AHA's which also leave your skin more suceptible to sun damage so don't think that you are ok because you are not using hq or ra. HQ/Ra work very well to ligten skin. I know a lot of people shy away from it but there are very few viable alternatives. I would say just avoid using anything too high percentage wise.

What vitamin C product did you get in the end?

Thanks Kim! Does one also need to be really cautious about artificial UV from CFL tubes, computer screens etc. with HQ or peels? also with HQ and RA what is the % of HQ/RA you use ? Where do you get it from? Does HQ have systemic effects? I keep hearing stories about it being banned or not to be used for >6 months. I use 4% HQ for acne scars only. It does not seem to have any effect in lightening normal skin.
I finally ended up buying VitC serum. I also have started taking Vit C supplements (1000mg/day). Have to see how it goes. Should let you guys know after sometime. Meanwhile as I said I just want my face and hands to at least match the lighter skin tone of the rest of my body without any support of artificial lighting (everything will look the same if you stand under a bright light and you cannot see a difference) and also not have any of the acne scars, blotches and blemishes/patches I have now. I dont think this is too much to ask for. Of course even lighter will be great but I dont know if this is possible realistically.

Sorry I am not familiar with cfl tubes. But I wuld imagine that unless you are on your computer day and night it should not be an issue. What HQ product are you using? I have recently been using Obagi clear (4% hq)and it has definitely lightened me, but it is not cheap. There seem to be differing info on how to use HQ. The obagi specialist said that I can use it for 18 weeks and then go onto maintenace and just use it 3 times a week. She has been using it herself for several years and has no issues. But if you are concerned you can always revert to a more nartural lightener and then go back to hq as and when necessary, after taking a break from it

Hi Kim,
I am just using plain HQ which has some sunscreen also infused in it so that it can be used on scars even during the daytime. I did not get it over the internet but from one of my friends from another country where this is available OTC without any prescription and is cheaper. What kind of natural lightener would you recommend? Would this natural lightner also make you more vulnerable to sunlight like HQ. I am going thorough my regime now (for about 3 weeks) with lactic acid peel, VitC etc. Though my skin looks just a little more smooth (still get acne that leave scars) my face and the hands are still definitely not the same lighter skin tone as the rest of the body or the inner side of my arm. Whenever lighting is dim in some place one can still see a clear difference between the face and hands and the rest of the body. Dont know if I will ever get my face and arms to be the same lighter tone as the rest of my body

make sure that even though there is sunscreen in the hq that you still use a good sunblock on top. Always best to be as cautious as possible with hq, and try and make sure you are avoiding the sun as well, which I know I have mentioned before. Do you know what perecentage the hq is? Most darker tones need about 3 or 4% for good lightening.

It sounds like you do not have the acne under control and you probably need to see your doctor to see if they can prescribe you something to sort out the underlying problem otherwise you are constantly battling with new acne scars. Find out if there are any contra indications in terms of not being able to using things like retin a for example, if they do prescribe something

There are many more natural products than hq but they can still have their own problems, for example kojic acid which can be be very irritating for some. You can look for products with alpha arbutin, kojic, niacinmide, licorice, bearberry, mulberry vitamin c. And in my experience they tend not to be as effective as hq but can be used for maintenance.
