Home remedies anyone? I found out that you can combine lemon juice (freshly squeezed or the ones in the bottle) with hydrogen peroxide to combat skin discolorations. I have used lemon juice in the past but not with HP. Lemon juice is a natural acid that exfoliates the top of the skin (epidermis). HP however, is a very strong bleach and can be bought at the store (over the counter) from 3-3.5%'s to be applied topically or internally. There is no set ration as to how to mix these two ingredients but I am guessing that half lemon, half PR. To achieve maximum results you will need to use this several times for the day. I am thinking that those of us that have been battling with stubborn knees and elbows can give this a shot later. HTH!

Hydrogen peroxide can definitely give a lightening effect but at a cost unfortunately. HP is a pro-oxidant as opposed to an anti -oxidant and ultimately it just causes damage to the skin, if used on a regular basis.

Ah-Ah Maharani, I didn't know that. I guess you can say the same thing for a lot of products, abuse will lead to damage, right? I guess what the lemon does though is dilute the HP even more. I don't have a problem with rough knees, just need to get rid of these scars from being tomboy! Hahahhaa

Hydrogen peroxide burns the top layer of skin and I believe a common ingredient in hair dye. The skin lightening is really teporary.

The thing is that whilst you are seeing lighter skin, the tissue underneath is being damaged and can leave the skin, long term, even darker than before, uneven and rough. It just does nothing good to the skin and really should only be used for medical purposes and for very short term use.

I really think that with regular use, skin peels can really help with things like rough areas that are difficult to treat with just topical lighteners.

Thanks GG and Maharani, that makes a lot of sense seeing that HP is used to kill infections from wounds etc. I know how acidic it is that is why there is no way in heavens name I would use hair dye (unless it is natural like henna).

Ohhhh I wouldn't. As maharani and gg have said peroxide is used for cleaning a flesh wound, whilst youhcan buy it over the countrer; I wouldn't use it. If its strong enough to kill germs think of what it can do to your skin? I once had some nasty bite marks and used ho and it made the surrounding skin raw and sensitive, now picture that for your whole body. You might as well use iodine Very Happy

You could try a homeopathic lightener like adding honey and lemontogether
