I have been on my skin routine of using the Hq 10% every other day, the hq 4% on the opposite days, body scrubs and kojic soap. I avoid the sun like its a bill collector, and have been using sun block religously!I have added the retin-a this week and ......my face hasnt wasted anytime peeling!! I only use a small amount of it, and im looking like a spotted leopord! You guys werent kidding when you said there is a "ugly phase"!! And is it suppose to sting like it does?! tonight it took 20mins before it seemed to cool down! My skin doesnt feel agitated at this point,(not yet), but How long should i expect to peel like this?? Shocked

...Hmmm. I remember this phase when I used retin a.... Only use retin a if you are not dating at the moment, and you don't have any social events planned for at least three weeks... It depends on what strength you used. But my goodness... That stuff is POTENT. Just know that at the end of the day, you will be lighter with clearer more even skin... That is granted you don't overdo it! Everything in moderation!

Blackgirl it is not suposed to sting. Does the hq 10% you using it at the moment have any exfoliants in it. The stinging may be an indication that you have over exfoliated . I suggest you stop using the retin a until your skin feels like it is not tender. The peeling stage is different for everyone so is hard to say how long it will last in all honesty. BTW what percentage of retin A are you using? Brown Deceit is right that at the end you will reap the rewards of better conditioned skin

@rainbow, no theres not an exfoliant in the hq, but i exfoliate before i apply the retin (i purchased it from adc), so you are probably right, im OVER exfoliating.....i will take a 2 day break, thanks so much!

blackgirl what method are you using to exfoliate before you apply your retin a as this may be the cause of your problems. If you are doing a manual method this may be too much for your skin. The retin A alone should be enough exfoliation.

@Gothqueen, Yes i was using a manual method to exfoliate (with a exfoliating facial sponge) and then applying the retin-a. Thanks for the tip, i will start using it alone. ...

blackgirl I 100 % agree with gothqueen. The only time I use a little exfoliaton is if there is a bit of peeling skin and then I very gently use a microfibre cloth to remove it. Even that can be a bit much for the skin so you have to be very careful. Retin A can literally leave your skin raw if overused, so is the only thing you need.
