Thanks to Maharani, I have been using Mequinol 10% on the scars on my arms now for almost a week now. Although some of the scar areas have faded some and not too large in size overall, I'm going to see if the mequinol/tretinoin can further remove the darkened areas. It does have a stinky smell LOL, so personally I prefer to use it at night and it is like a thick vaseline formulation, so little is needed as it melts as I rub it in.

Keep in mind, it is recommended that you use retin-a (tretinoin) along with mequinol in order for effective penetration and results. So, I'll keep everyone updated.

Thanks for the update. There is a lot of interest in this product and not a great deal of info on how it works long term and on darker skin, so any results good and bad ( hopefully not) will be very much appreciated. Thanks .

Much thanks for sending me the Mequinol, I'm really anxious and will see more first hand how it reacts to my skin. I do think I will start mixing the mequinol and retin-a in the palm of my hand first before I apply, compared to me applying retin-a first and followed by the mequinol.

You know ladies my views in those but I will say it again, at 10% you are risking confetti like patches, why do not you dilute it to 2% it has been tested to be ok for dark spots.

I don’t know much about MQ because simply there are not much date available for it been used. Solage sound promising though.

I have aces to the full studies through work if you want will email it to you.

sara,

thanks for sharing your thoughts. This was one of my concern as well and so when I tried it before, for a short period, I used it very sparingly and at night only. I also have diluted some of the MQ in cetaphil to weaken the strength. Hopefully this is ok, as to get MQ at the 2% concentration without a prescription has been impossible I have found.

Please feel free to post the info you have found as it will be very useful.

Wow GG that's great that you are so brave! I have a burn mark that is peeling right off and I've had it for about a year now. I looks like it's been a week since I've had because of the peeling. Good luck! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Thanks! Oh, I have been pretty scarred up from being a tomboy up 'til 10th grade. Growing up with 4 brothers and not knowing my sister as much..well, everything they did I did. Some scars has faded from my legs with time, but not all and I still have a few on my arms. I was able to remove a few scars that were on my arms with lactic acid peels 50%. Fingers crossed for the Mq/Ra to do the rest...I despise looking at them.

Much luck on that burned scar (fingers crossed).

Thanks GG! Sounds like we had the same kind of childhood! I grew up with 3 brothers and trust me, it was not easy playing and kicking those balls and breaking my neck in an attempt to fit in. When I finally decided enough was enough, too late. I have about 3 scars on my knees and can't wait to get them off me! They have lightened significantly but I doubt if they will be ever gone. I can only wish.

Just so you all know I'm currently using mequinol 10% with goldpharma with tretinoin 0.1%! now based on my readings and many discussions...mequinol is concidered to be quite safe...spotting is not very common as a matter of fact there have been no documented cases of spotting on people of color from Mequinol....Monobenzone yes! but not mequinol! I'll be sure to let you all know how my depigmenting is going [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Warm welcome Enticing, I'm interested in hearing updates on your mequinol/tretinoin experience! Another Meq user! yaay.

Update: This morning I noticed that one of the areas on my arm is much much smoother and the dark acne scar that is there I'm noticing fading and looking much lighter. Nothing yet on the other areas yet.

Yayyyyyyy!!!! Enticing you finally got your butt over here to say hello !!! Now you know we are all going to be looking forward to your progress, when you have the time to pass through. .... Don't leave it too long though !!! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I have to say that my skin has taken on this kind of paleness, almost like I have sunblock on, but nicer, if you understand what I mean. Now I wonder GG when you were using the Nadinola, did your skin kinda look like this, as I am using Nadinola in the morning OR can I account this to the MQ, which would be really great. I must admit that someone asked me if I was mixed today, but I know that I haven't lightened that much !!! But I see a definite brightening in my undertone.

This is getting exciting !!!

Enticing, it is so nice that you followed Maharani advice! Welcome! How long have you been using MQ and what are your results so far? Do you at least mix it with anything else apart from RA? Thanks!

I am not sure if he will be online for a while, but I believe it has only been about 6 days or so. He has decided to use it at 10% without diluting along with RA. If you come on board soon Enticing , please feel free to correct anything hun !!!

Alizee, I am using MQ with success. It's been a few weeks now but here is what I have done. I ordered mine from Goldpharma (you have to fill a form out and then they ask you a bunch of health questions, nothing major). The physician will then prescribe the MQ10% for a charge of $8.00+ One tube runs a little over $8.00. The results are semi permanent from what I gather - ie at such low percentage. To maintain your results you need to use a sunblock daily.
In my opinion MQ10% does not cause any patches (from what I have read so far) - but of course over use or abuse of any product can do more harm than good.
I started off the first few days by applying it twice per day but now I have reduced it to once per day (nightly). I mix mine with RA and base cream/lotion. It worked out to be less than 2%. I am not looking to damage my skin thus this precautionary step. Right now I am applying to my entire body with the exception of my face. HTH.

Thats good to know. slow and steady I always say, especially when dealing with your skin.
so I order and do they charge $8 per bottle or eight just for ordering like how ADC charges 25 for shipping?
all right so I acn just apply the mq directly to my skin in the morning after showering and then at nigtht as well, I want to use it for my whole body.
Once I get the desired shade I can switch to using it once a day and should I only use it for six months like with hq and then take a break?

Sorry to double post but I forgot to ask this lol, I am such a ditz at times.
For those who have used mq, after you no longer used it did you go back to the shade you were when you started or did you redarken but not as dark as you were before?

Alizee, I haven't been using it that long to find out if darkening occurs after but I know of people who have been using it for several months now and they have not redarkened from not using it. They told me that sunblock is a must! Goldpharma charges according to your order and shipping works out to about 2 bucks, each tube costs about $8.15.
