i was viewing a forum discussion in some other forum. and i was very dissopointed by the response of majority of people who replied to that topic.
a female asked such simple questions "what is your favorite lightening products, and if it really works, what is the price of this product and where can i get it in the UK" so forth, she mentioned that she was using a cream that burnt her and wants to get somthing better and all that etc....i couldnt reply either hence im not a member but i was amazed but people who are too ignorant in life
guess what?
people were writing things like:
love the skin you are in, you black girls are so fake, be yourself, why you wanna be white, why are you n*gga people so fake, why do you want to be someone you are not... who told you white is better? and some even mentioned dark models who've made it successful being dark...etc and the list goes on there was 11 pages full of replies and swearing at each other in the forum WOOOOOW...thats quite low..

before i tell you how i felt about those silly comments i need to thank, moderators, administrators and anyone else thats making this forum possible with lots of peace in here.

my point of view is:
i understand that it was a general forum no wonder people who are not interested in that can say what they said...
firstly this girl never said she is black, white, mixedrace, indian, red, blue, hispanic, asian etc
so why did they have to turn a simple product question into a racism discussion?
ANYONE CAN CHOOSE TO LIGHTEN THEIR SKIN. PEOPLE NEED TO BE MORE EDUCATED ABOUT THESE THINGS!!! BLEMISHES,BURNS, ACNE, SUNBURN, DARK CIRCLE AROUND THE EYES,WRONG PRODUCT USE...etc
why dont people pass judgement on a girl trying to tan her skin (again, anyone can CHOOSE to tan their skin). what happened to YOU HAVE ONE LIFE TO LIVE AND DO WHAT WILL MAKE YOU CONFIDENT...??? if you love how your skin, your body weight, your breast etc looks then you leave it as it is and EMBRASS IT. if you dont like something about your body you do something about it before you hit the road of depression, low self-esteem etc isnt that what life is all about?
who am i to judge what my fellow friends, and acquiantance is doing? if they are doing somthing to their body and im against, all i have to do is not follow what they are doing... even if i choose not to lighten my skin, i am still not perfect and i am not GOD to judge you. so someone who chooses to lose weight doesnt love herself? everyone that decided to use hair dye doesnt love their hair colour? someone with a bad smile who doesnt like their teeth and AFFECTS their confidence and decides to get it fixed means they dont want to accept and love what god gave them???? come on....
it is really sad how judgement is thrown around so easily without thinking twice...
i had a friend (she also lightened her skin as i do) and she said OMG "nicki minaj is so fake...breast,nose,hair,skin etc, teeth, curves"...since she is a friend i was brutally honest with her. i told her "you are not any better, live your life and dont pass hate around, its not helping you in anyway to better your self when you pass useless judgements"...she started laughing but i know she was shocked i said that.

really, to stop judgements its starts from every individual to stop saying bad things about others, plus if these stars dont do all these implants then TV will be boring, talk shows will be boring...
id understand if its a 2years old girl wanting to lighten her skin or to get breast implants...but ones you are older to do what you want to do why judge?

think about it....if we should be embrassing ourself the very same way we were born, why do we wear clothes? why do we take a shower? why do we buy soaps, deodorants for our armpits? why to we put mosturizer on our skin not to feel dry and cracked skin etc....why do people smoke or drink alcohol? we were not born with beer bottles in our hands or cigarettes!!! why do we style our hair?why to we WASH OUR HAIR...and so forth...

tell me what you have experinced or friend? or what is your opinion on such things...

It makes me laugh when I see people who are anti lightening popping up and arguing on lightening forums. It doesn't make sense. If it does not interest you then why are you there? maybe they want to share some of the misery of their own lives. I just ignore them.

There comes a time when you are responsible for your actions and whatever you chose is absolutely your own choice. These people are not your Mum or Dad so what gives them the right to think they can tell you what you should or shouldn't be doing? If they don't like what you are doing then they should just not do it.

i totally agree gothqueen...
but its sad how people still comment on things that they feel that has nothing to do with their lifestyle e.g. you dont know what the person is talking about and you cant help them you just ignore the post, but i guess people have time to waste.

That's exactly it, people with far too much time on their hands. If someone was discussing something I had not interest in I wouldn't be wasting my time and energy giving my viewpoint.I think that there is a lot of negativity around and some people rather than seeking out something to enhance themselves or that interests them seem far more happy just being plain mean

The ignorance is that people automatically assume that if you are lightening that you must want to be white or something. Well I for one do not. I just think that my features look better with a lighter tone. I certainly do not want white skin. It is exactly like the scenario when a white person feels they look better with a tan. They just don't get the same stick for it for some reason.

hahahaha very true @ gothqueen
@yogi - i think its really how you look at yourself and sometimes even the way people compliment you with your skin tone. it doesnt mean you want to be caucasian, you can still be you race and light in complexion and still be the beautiful person you are...
thanks for your comments girls im glad that some people do see this situation the same way i do.

It ain't no one else's business but your own. Some people act like you are carrying out some sort of heinous crime. People need to get real and put their energy into something that warrants condemnation like people who murder and rape for example

Any bland moisturiser will do. Some people use eucerin, E45 or aveeno.I like astral. Just make sure that you wait at least an hour after you have applied your mix before applying another moisturiser otherwise you will be diluting your mix and not getting the full effect. HTH and welcome to the board by the way !!! Very Happy

In relation to the original question, people need to realise that choosing to lighten is not an indication of self loathing or being against your background but bascically making a preference as to how we wish to look, like anything else we choose in our lives. The world has changed along with what is possible. Just because I lighten does not mean that I don't like myself or my background. At the end of the day I will still be black no matter how much I lighten

Yes unless youn plan on doing something drastic you can't run away from your race. There have been people who have wanted this and undergone major changes in order to aachieve this but these people tend to be in the minority and I don't believe that there is anyone here who is on that kinda level

There are features of myself that I would like to change and other people should not concern themselves about why I want to do this. If they don't agree then no one is telling them to do it. Live your life and I will live mine thank you

I agree. you cannot live your life by other people's standards. You will only end up with regret at what could have been. Just don't go overboard LOL

hi mscorpio1!!!
welcome
would you prefer a whitening lotion? or a normal lotion that can just mosturize you?

personally i would stick to something that can just moisturize the skin hence you already have what makes you fair in complexion so you dont want to agravate your skin
why dont you stick to oatmeal lotions? lavender lotions? grapefruit lotions? cherry lotions?(im using cherry good for SPF and free radicals) milk based lotions?
try something simple! it wont darken your skin if you have products to lighten your skin.
take care
