I have engrown hair bumps on my legs from shaving. How can I get rid of them and stop them from coming back? but I still will need to shave though.

First, best to look for other options for hair removal since shaving can inflame the skin. You can try a hair removal lotion product instead. Papaya kojic soap can work really well with removing engrown hair bumps and you'll most likely notice some difference in 2 weeks. Also, use a nice quality moisturizer or natural oil to help prevent inflammation.

Bj, have you thought about waxing your legs instead of shaving? And good daily exfoliation of the area should also help to avoid the bumps. Maybe try a home made sugar scrub. I am so grateful that I have never shaved my legs. Just never had much hair on them. In fact, none of the women in my family shave their legs including my Mum. I am thankful for small mercies, as I have enough to do witth this skin care regime lark to keep me busy.

I do however sometimes get bumps when I do my bikini line and avoiding shaving too oftena and good exfoliation seems to help. Have also tried the bump stop treatments which have also helped here. Have never plucked up enough courage to consider waxing the bikini area!! Ouch !!! But I do plan one day, when funds allow,to get the area lasered to avoid all the trouble in the first place.

Maharani I did think of it, but doesn't waxing hurt and how long does it sting? Do you know any sugar scrub recipes? I hate shaving the bikini line! I think getting the laser hair removal is probably the best idea.

I am not going to say that waxing is pain free but when I was doing my beauty therapy training several years back, it was clear that even with me being a student, that when someone has been waxing for a long time, it does get easier and less painful. If you are worried about doing it yourself, go to a salon and make sure you get a really experienced therapist, because I think someone who has the right technique can make the whole process a lot less painful. It really is all in the wrist action, the tautness of the skin and the speed at which they do it.

Sugar scrubs could not be simpler. Just add shower gel or similar to some granulated sugar and you are good to go. Some people also like salt scrubs but I find that if you have a little cut, it stings like h*** !!!

I think I had tried waxing once or twice and it was so painful to me, but I also have heard that the more you do them the easier it gets.

Maharani thanks for this sugar scrub, I'm going to give it a go this weekend! Another question, which waxing product works really well for legs?
