I used to be a regular gym goer, but due to other commitments, have had to cancel my memebership. I have replaced all my areobics and body combat etc with power walking and have found it really does me good and it has helped me to maintain my weight at the level I was, whilst going to the gym 5 times a week.

Only thing is that now it is coming up to summer, the weather is getting warmer and I like to avoid the sun as much as possible so am going to have to think of something that I can replace it with that does not involve being outdoors.

Have considered getting up really early and doing my walk then, but for some reason I always seem to attract the weirdos so will see how it goes.

Power walking is very effective too. Although a gym membership can be great, there are so many other ways of how to include exercise in our day. Also saving on money. Please be careful going out very early or late in the day because the weirdos do come out during that time, especially if your walking alone. Bring some mace or pepper spray with you.

I go jogging in the forest twice weekly, and the rest of the week i just use the stairs by running up and down them this alone keep me inform.

am going to have to think of something cos again on my morning walk, not that early (9.00am), I nearly bumped into a man talking to himself and waving to imaginary people. Am I the only one who keeps bumping into these kinda people ???

Maharani , i don't go alone jogging in the forest i go with my hobby much safer .Talking about bumping in to weird people no your not the only one i bumped in them too for some reason especially early in the mornings.

Well see that's what I don''t get, I thought the song said " The Freaks come out at night "

Anyway you are lucky your hubby likes to jog too. I can just about get my other half to walk a couple of feet without it seeming like a big deal. He is only interested in weight training and cardio just does not figure.

Oh well looks like the old exercise videos are gonna have to be dusted off cos the sun is getting stronger now spring is here.

ha ha..the freaks do come out at night...unfortunately, not just a silly song. At least around here in my state. Bring a friend(s) or more or at least a ferocious dog with you like a Boxer or a Rock Wilder in order to help intimidate the creeps lurking in the trees..lol. I know here in NC we seem to have a problem with freaks here for some reason. I'm even considering getting a stun-gun or something in case my large stick isn't enough. Because I need to get my jog on...I may need my previous trainer with me again, I do need to send a call...

Really? I feel kind of dangerous right now...lol. Well, when I was in highschool and had to leave early morning before sunrise to ketch the school bus, I used to carry a large stick or a couple of box cutters with me..hmmm...I may be a bad influence..lol.

Think of all that money you could be using on other things .....You need to start using it properly hun, otherwise you are just lining those gym owners pockets with what I am sure is hard earned cash.

Set yourself a target of how often you will go, and then see if you can stick to it. Sometimes if it is possible at the gym you attend, it is cheaper to pay on each visit if you are not going on a regular basis. Not sure if it is an option where you are.

You can have your own gym at home. Exercise videos can come in handy too and are much cheaper. but as long as you have your membership try going with a friend or setting a target like Maharani suggested. Even if you have to keep a gym bag with gym clothes near the door or in your car as a reminder. Or give me that extra money!

Yes I need to have my progress watched lol. Still hitting the gym, but some days I just walk around my neighborhood or use my exercise video. I have lost 3 pounds so far, not much but it's something.
