Hi, I am looking for a skin lightener that would not cause any bumps to appear on my face. I used Neoprosone and my face broke out. I used Omic and it did the same. Can anyone tell me which skin lightener is safe for acne prone skin?

I think enticing had the same experience when he used neoprosone, even though he was hoping that retin A would negate any side effects from the steroid. Hopefully he will comfirm that.It seems that Hydroquinone with retin A is giving him very good lightening. I will be honest and say that I was not in a hurry to use hq myself but there just does not seem to be many alternatives for darker skin tones. Please anyone who knows differently jump right in and let me know. I tried Fair and flawless and it broke me out and it appears that it had steroids in it anyway. Maybe you will find using retin A if you are not using it already will be good for you.

I agree that adding Retin A into any skin lightening regime really does boost the effects and will help with breakouts. You may find that there is an initial purging stage where you may find that you are getting more breakouts or seeing them where you have never had them before but with perserverance this stage will pass.

You do have to be really careful with any products containing steroids and if you decide that you are going to include them into your regime that this is only for a short period.

I concur. retin A has really helped me. I am not acne prone but when makari gave me a bad breakout it really helped me. My skin is looking so much more even these days.

Yes Omic is a steroid. The steroid is Fluocinonide 0.025%

Hi Yogi, I triedRetin A before and it did help a lot. I had samples from my doctor but I ran out. Where can I purchase more (besides AllDayChemist)?

GothQueen: I am using Neoprosone (The steroid version mixed with the HQ version) most of the time, and occassionally the Omic (steroid) mixed with regular lotion. I really want to stop using steroids and use something safe. Any recommendations???

The only other reasonably priced alternative for buying retin A is reliable rx which does ship from the same place as allday chemist but is slightly lower in shipping costs. Every where else would tend to charge you an arm and a leg and that is just for the retin A.

You do need to make sure that because you are using steroids that you wean yourself off gently otherwise you may darken rapidly. Reduce the application time and hopefully your skin will not suffer too much. I am sure that the HQ and RA will give you good results

So do I mix the RA with the lightening creams or apply them seperately? Is it ok to mix lightening cream with regular lotion? And what do you mean by "because you are using steroids that you wean yourself off gently otherwise you may darken rapidly"....LOL, I am kinda slow, please explain.

What I mean is do not just stop. Gradually Reduce the amount of times you apply it and then the darkening may not be as rapid. It depends on what you plan to use with the retin A. Mixing it with other acidic products is not a good idea as it may results in over exfoliation and possible post inflammotory hyperpigmentation

Yeah I noticed when I stopped using F & f that I got dark so quick. It waas awfull!!! Maybe I should have taken my time. I was just scared that I would get a major breakout if I didn't.

Hi!! Mini_Her,
Thank you for your eagerness to the skin care related to skin lightening . If you use a cosmetic which is not suitable for your skin may break out your skin. This is why you should use the suitable cosmetic for your skin and in that case I recommed you to use DR Secret which is very famous in South-East Asia for skin lightening effect, has anyone heard of it and tried?

Just looked it up. Hey the price is insane !!! It looks like it is geared towards asian skin types. I also saw it mentioned arbutin and NOT alpha arbutin which is better as well as just kojic acid. Don't know hwo effective it would be on darker skin tones.

I agree. Looking at the before/after shots it definitely seems geared to a certain skin tpes. And yes AA is better than just arbutin so may not be a great solution for someone seeking serious lightening

If they are saying that they believe that it is effective on all skin colours as stated on the site then they should think about incorporating black skin types before/ after photos as well.

What do you expect from using a steroid agent on your face.
