What makes me so angry about this story was that the manufacturers did not declare that the product had mercury in it. Now this bride to be may have still decided to use it but maybe she would have thought twice about using it over her entire body and possibly would not have had the severe reaction that led to her death

A truly sad story but mercifully a rare outcome. The cosmetic companies that produce such deadly products should have the highest possible penalties and go to jail. It is not enough that they are collecting the offending products and stopping their distribution. It has been well documented the dangers of mercury and it should not be allowed any where near any type of topical cosmetic

Absolutely shocking. You would think that there would be a full proof lightening agent that does not come with any controversy by now. They are still relying on unsafe products for quick results and now this is the sort of thing that happens. Very very sad

Oh no I don't want to put my health at risk because of something that I put on my skin. This is so hard.

To put it in better context you have to understand that she was putting mercury over her entire body which if you read up on mercury will tell you that this is not good even on small areas never mind over every where. Thank God they have taken away the product but I bet you another company will be back to replace it with more dangerous products. There is way too much money in this lightening business for this not to happen. This is why I have never wanted to use something all over my body. Yes it would be great to be totally uniform but until I find something that I know is 100% SAFE or close to then I will continue working on small areas and just condition the rest.

a wise choice. I am with you when it comes to all over lightening. I am happy to work on darker areas like knees elbows feet and face but I am not going to slather anything that I am not sure about all over. I know it looks beautiful to look all even but I will be satisfied with eveness for now

What I meant to say was that it would be great to be light all over but I will settle just to be even for now

I am glad that I am not the only one who worries about using a lightening lotion all over. You read so much about cosmetics in general being no good for you never mind lighteners with God kows what in it. I am totally paranoid since my fair and flawless incident. I still remember when there was a craze about Bio claire and everyone was into it till the truth came out about that one too.

When you put it like that it makes more sense that she had such a severe reaction but how do you know what is in something if they don't tell you. I do want to lighten all over eventually but this really scares me

afraid most of the time you do not know what is in some creams unless you make it yourself. My moto is eveything in moderation & may be if you are using something a few times a week as oppposed to morning & night then the effects may not be as bad. & defo don't be slathering yourslf in it. I have seen some people in the carribean who will put on a thick layer of cream & then walk around with it thinking it will work better. A lot of lotions say apply a thin layer & many ignore it anyway

Good thinking as it means you are not constantly bombarding your body with chemicals

oh ok. I am focused on my face and neck for now but am thinking ahead of how I want to work on my body in the future. I will take what you have said on board. so what are you using on your body? The creams I have are too small for use on the body. I think they would last less than a week

Now that is a question. You are totally right that hq/ra over the whole body would not be economical & besides I am not sure I would want to got there anyway. I have used a lot of products though none really consistently. I like to change around all the time. Some products that some have said has helped a bit are 55h+, fair & white lotion, carotein, sure white body lotion, milk protein lotion. I cannot vouch for whether the ingredients are totally safe but I have not heard anything bad so far. I can't say how well they will work either but they are inexpensive so will not break the budget

I think that the products that we are using has so many chemical, which give side effects to us.

Absolutely which is why we have to take as much care with whatever we put on our skin. There does not seem to be enough regulations as to what can be included in cosmetics and this allows manufacturers to literally be allowed to get away with murder.

wow Shocked this is my first time hearing about that and its sad it really drives the message that as consumers we need to beware... being able to trust a vendor should be an automatic given but the sad fact is that its not always possible advocating for yourself is a golden rule in skincare lightening journey...

This is very disturbing and unfair, nothing beats this kind of company.

There are lots of cream in market which have side effect. Product should be purchased according to skin.
