Advanced Variation of the Aspirin Mask:
For Those Who Are More Experienced With Already Using The Basic Aspirin Mask
Here is a more advanced recipe that I have been perfecting made with aspirin and it works great for both women and men. Aspirin's full name is Acetylsalicylic Acid and is a form of salicylic acid. Salicylic acid is a Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) and these type of acids are synthetic. When used properly, this effective and gentle exfoliation treatment can be used to treat a variety of symptoms such as discoloration, acne, damage from the sun, fine lines, and wrinkles. Before preparing and applying the mask, remember to remove makeup first if done in the evening. Be sure you do not have an allergic reaction to aspirin before trying this recipe. If you are allergic to aspirin, then omit from using this peel. But, if you are allergic to any of the other ingredients listed, this recipe still can be used by subtracting the following ingredient.
Benefits:
- Shrinks pores pores
- Reduces acne and helps prevent further acne from forming.
- Improves discoloration and skintone
Ingredients:
- 7-8 Uncoated Aspirin (salicylic acid) crushed in mortar & pestal
- 2-3 drops of lemon juice (to help melt the aspirin)
- 1 tsp Yogurt (lactic acid)
- 1-1.5 tsp buckwheat honey (binding agent)
- 2 drops Tea Trea oil
- 2 drops Lavendar essential oil
- 2 drops Calendula extract
- ¼ tsp Pure Brown Sugar (glycolic acid)
- 2 drops Witch hazel
- 0.5 tsp organic Aloe Vera Gel or a few drops of juice
- A few sprinkles of Kaolin Clay powder (helps prevent some of the flakiness)
- 0.5-1 tsp green tea (dissolving agent)
Instructions:
In a bowl, add a few drops of the lemon juice to the uncoated aspirin to help it to dissolve. To help grind the ingredients and blend into a paste, you can use the back of a spoon or you can also use a mortar and pestle. Then the remaining ingredients, once mixed it should be grainy in texture. Using wet fingers apply the mixture to dry skin and allow to dry for 15 minutes until it dries as your skin should feel the tightening, avoid applying near the eyes to prevent irritation. Once dry rinse while massaging gently in a circular motion into the skin with warm water, you do not have to scrub it in. After rinsing, apply a quality skin toner to further remove any traces of residue, makeup, and dirt from the skin. After the toner, use a mineral oil-free facial moisturizer to add moisture back into the skin. You can use this 1-2 times a week, as time progresses and you can increase usage to 3-4 times a week
- The yogurt, honey, and aloe vera gel helps prevent prevent dryness and has moisturizing properties.
- The kaolin is a mild clay that helps bind the ingredients and further help to remove dirt build-up and clogged pores.
- The calendula and lavender are optional, but they help to prevent redness and are calming. Calendula contains healing properties as well as lavender is a mild antiseptic.
Warnings:
- If you are allergic to aspirin, then omit from using this peel. But, if you are allergic to any of the other ingredients listed, this recipe still can be used by subtracting the following ingredient.
- Avoid applying the mask near the eyes.
- Do not do this treatment everyday in order to avoid overdrying your skin.
-You must use a sunblock with spf 30 or higher before going outdoors due to the skin exfoliating.
