I do see that when I visit asian areas that the lighter you are the better. The guys just seem to gawp when a light or white women walks by. It seems very desired. They also have a vast array of fairness creams and lotions on offer.

Hi all.

well i am still gathering data for my study and it yet has to be analysed so will not know any results till then.

The aim for my research is to invsetigate different health beliefs of women who use skin lightening products to those who do not. i am measuring self-esteem, self-efficacy, body satisfaction and general health. Kim, you are right, Asians prefer lighter skin and so do many other cultures such as Africans, Soth Americans and those in the Far East. This topic has a lot of history dating back to colonialism and slavery and the fact that many beauty products advertised in different countries contain Caucasian women and so the beauty ideal for those ethnic communities in those countries have changed thus leading to plastic surgeries and use of skin lightening to look like the 'ideal' woman. it is a very broad and deep subject but ive just given some basic info which i will be using in my research.hope you guys find it interesting.

hope all is well!
