I suppose it does deepend to a degree on what your current skin tone is. So could you say whether you are very dark, medium etc.

You also have to consider wheher you are getting rid of sun damage/ hyper-pigmentation or if you are trying to lighten beyond what is your natural skin tone.

my skin tone is like Lauryn Hill's tone, I do have some hyperpigmentation like from previous acne. I want to try and lighten my tone up to a medium tone like Sanaa Lathan's. I have a normal skin type, sometimes can get dry skin. Any suggestions on what I can try first and that is also safe?

Bj what have you tried so far? You may find that it may be a case of trying several products to find what works for you the best. I am a big fan of Retin A and vitamin C for overall skin condition and I plan to use these forever if possible. They will also help with any hyperpigmentation as well. And before you embark on any skin lightening regime, you need to invest in sun protection with a good sun cream/block. Let us know what you have used before and maybe we can help.

yeah, I agree. Usually a trial and error on what works for you, and Retin A and vitamin C can help speed results.

Thanks Maharani! yeah, the photos are a good example of where I'm at and what I want to reach up to Sanaa's shade. Right now 'm not really using anything. but, I used bio claire, g&g, and ikb gel before and they all helped me lighten some shades, and then it all seem to go down hill each time with all of them which really sucked. So I gave my skin a break to heal before starting over but now my skin is back to it's shades and I think those products gave me dermatitus and it gave me even more dark spots than before I started using.

Were you using them together or at different times ? I know from experience that Bio claire can produce a lot of lightening but many have also encountered problems later. I personally so skin thinning with veins clearly visible at the back of my knees. Fortunately these results were not permanent but some have seen stretch marks, black marks and more. I believe this is due to the steroids that have been included in this product.

Is thinning skin cause from steroids permanent ?

Well, skin cells are always replacing itself on average every 28 days, so with time it's possible for the skin layers to re-thicken. But as Maharani had said, stretchmarks can be a possibility if the skin is stretched too much and not able to give itself time to replenish. Steroids does just that when used to lighten and used on large areas of the body.

BC also gave me thinned skin and I could see the blue veins showing through my skin near my shoulder blade areas the most and it's easier for your skin to become easily bruised. After I had stopped using it, over time yes my skin becamse thicker again and returned to normal. But, as mentioned with continued use strech marks can begin to appear and thin the skin to the point of tearing = stretchmarks

I would say the first I tried was bio claire which I advocate for people not to use. Makari, fair & white exclusive, nadinola, and a few others in between...lol. Some with success and some not so. I'm currently writing a review for the f&w and will be posting it soon.
What were your experiences Rocksmart?

Funny I was going to ask the same question.

I have not been doing much in terms of lightening. Currently just using Retin A and vitamin C along with a moisturiser. Prior to this I did try Mequinol with Retin A, but this was only for 2 months. As I was uncertain about what sort of results I would see, I only used the MQ very sparingly and only every couple of days at night only. I did not see any lightening or darkening, but I was not surprised as it was a very very light application of the MQ and I know for some people the results take a while to show. I stoppped it, as I still want to find out a little bit more about how MQ works and what the long term results are.

I would have preferred to have tried MQ at 2%, as I was trying the 10%, version but was unable to find an outlet that would sell it without requiring a prescription.

So as I say for a liitle while now, no real focused lightening, whilst I decide on whether I want to go down the HQ route. I purchased some Nadinola a while back and really want to try it, but am concerned about long term usage. I really want a regime that I can use for a good while. I know there are many poeple who have used HQ for years with no apparent adverse reactions. I just don't want to see any darkening especially if I lighten significantly.

I can recommend a cream which worked for me and totally hydroquinone free. I am saying about FAIR
AND HANDSOME Fairness Cream for Men. This
product is also Dermatologically Tested.

hey guys, just curious, which bio claire products do you guys use exactly? because i used the bio vegator and the soap and it lightened me beautifully and gave me a nice glow and even when i stopped using it, although i did return to my original skin tone, i did not get spots/stretch marks or anything of the sort. im thinking of getting some for my body, should i get the oil since it might be really concerntrated so it will lighten the body beautifully? i wanted to use it till i get my desired tone and then switch to something safer for long term for maintenance..

PorcelainSkin,

I would totally avoid all of the Bio Claire range. It has already been exposed that powerful steroids have been included in their products and there have been many cases of skin damage as a result of people using it. You were fortunate that you did not suffer any apparent adverse reactions when you tried it the last time but I would rather you did not push your luck hun. I myself, saw incredible skin thinning and Golden Girl witnessed skin blackening !!! Please pass on this one.

I agree bio claire is a big no no. My friend got bad stretch marks using it and is still trying to sort them out.

melallite is 4% HQ and for those not adverse to using this product can give very good results when combined with retin A. Other options are fair and flawless, tonique, makari and otentika. Patience is the key and people should not necessarily expect fast results. Also take into account that everyone gets different results so you may have to try different things to find what works best for you. Good luck

I am sure it was what GoldenGirl said she used and saw good results with after using makari. I am thinking of doing the same as makari gave me spots . Just working on fading my spots first with retin a and ambi when it arrives.
