First topic message reminder :

Thanks to Maharani, I have been using Mequinol 10% on the scars on my arms now for almost a week now. Although some of the scar areas have faded some and not too large in size overall, I'm going to see if the mequinol/tretinoin can further remove the darkened areas. It does have a stinky smell LOL, so personally I prefer to use it at night and it is like a thick vaseline formulation, so little is needed as it melts as I rub it in.

Keep in mind, it is recommended that you use retin-a (tretinoin) along with mequinol in order for effective penetration and results. So, I'll keep everyone updated.

This great info, thanks guys. So let's say I used the MQ and ret-a and achieved my 3 shades lighter goal and I stopped using it and I stayed out of the sun and still used an umbrella, how long will it take for my old colour to come back? Will it come back since y'all said the MQ depigs? And roughly how long will it take to see lightening when using the MQ and ret-a? And lastly, surely if the MQ depigs the skin semi-permanently and perhaps more permanently from long-term use, surely there are side effects??!!

have no idea how long it takes for the color to come back, if it's only 3 shades maybe a month or two if you avoid sun light, but i'm just spit ballin

it takes a bout a month or two to see results but if it works for you, it will be worth the wait

yeah it depigs but if you stop using it your color will come back but i herd it come back all the way, so thats good if you have to stop using it, as for side affects, besides killing the cells that make melanin there does not seem to be any as long as it's placed on skin

There may be long term affects but none of us will know unless they do tests.

Is there any chance at all that the MQ and ret-a mix won't work for someone? And that person will experience no peeling and/or lightening?? Surely killing the melanin cells might effect how well you age or not??
